RMU has partnered with Sea Mission Medical Care units to deliver essential medical services to seafarers and their families. Through these collaborations, we conduct:

• Medical camps in rural seafaring communities,
• Health awareness campaigns, and
• Preventive screenings for seafarers.
• These initiatives aim to improve healthcare access and promote wellness among maritime families.

Seafarers’ Mental Health Support

Recognizing the psychological challenges faced by seafarers due to isolation, stress, and long periods at sea, RMU has initiated mental health support programs in collaboration with professional organisations. These programs include:

• Counselling sessions,
• Stress management workshops,
• Awareness programs for families, and
• Access to certified mental health professionals.
• RMU is committed to fostering a mentally resilient maritime workforce.

Seafarers Welfare Centres

RMU, in collaboration with various welfare organisations, is establishing Seafarers’ Community Development Centres and Welfare Centres across coastal regions and major seafaring communities. These centres aim to provide:

• Recreational facilities,
• Community engagement activities,
• Access to educational and training resources,
• Welfare support for seafarers and their families.
• These centres serve as vital hubs for community bonding, training, and welfare services.

Legal Assistance Cell

RMU’s Legal Assistance Cell provides dedicated support to seafarers facing work-related disputes, grievances, or legal challenges. The cell offers guidance and assistance in cases related to:

• Contractual issues,
• Non-payment of wages,
• Shipboard incidents and injuries,
• Compensation claims during accidents or unfortunate deaths at sea.
• Families of seafarers also receive assistance to ensure timely and rightful compensation under applicable laws and conventions.
